Peter's Ministry Continues | Acts 9:32-43 | Pastor Josh Wootton
In Acts 9:32–43, God works through Peter to heal Aeneas and raise Tabitha from the dead, demonstrating that Peter and the other apostles are true messengers of God whose words and works point to Jesus Christ. These miracles are not simply remarkable events to marvel at; they serve a greater purpose by showing the connection between Peter’s ministry and the ministry of Jesus Himself.
Just as Jesus healed the sick and raised the dead, Peter’s miracles testify to the truth of the apostles’ message and call people to trust the risen Christ. Yet these temporary acts of healing and resurrection point beyond themselves to an even greater promise: the day when Jesus will return and raise His people to eternal life. Through the testimony of Scripture, the words of the apostles, and the resurrection of Jesus, God has given us reason to believe and calls us to place our trust in Christ.
In this sermon, “Peter’s Ministry Continues,” we’ll see why we must understand God’s miracles, believe the God of miracles, and ultimately trust the miraculous Christ to whom they point. Ultimately, we are called to trust the words of the apostles preserved in Scripture, believe in the risen Jesus, and rest in the promise that He is the resurrection and the life.
